Travel Awards for 2008 Conference on Cell Replacement in the Inner Ear

Applications are now being accepted for travel awards for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to attend the 2008 Conference on Cell Replacement in the Inner Ear, held June 12-15, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, in Bethesda, Maryland. A limited number of awards of $500 each are being offered to defray travel and lodging costs associated with attendance at the conference. The winners of the travel awards will be selected by the conference committee.

Individuals selected will be judged according to the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be full-time graduate students or postdoctoral research fellows.
  • Applicants must be the presenting author on an abstract submitted for the 2008 Conference on Cell Replacement in the Inner Ear.
  • Applicants must demonstrate clear need for financial assistance for attending the conference.
  • Special emphasis will be placed on minority applicants in order to promote diversity among meeting participants.

Prospective candidates should submit the following for consideration:

  • A letter (can be in the body of an email) from the applicant stating desire, need and qualifications for the award based on the stated criteria.
  • An attachment of the submitted abstract for poster or podium presentation at the 2008 Conference on Cell Replacement in the Inner Ear. The original must have been submitted via the conference page on the DRF website, www.drf.org.
  • An attachment of the Curriculum vitae.
  • A letter of recommendation from the graduate training supervisor, director of the graduate program, or department chairman.

** NOTE: If more than one applicant comes from a program, the supervisor/director/chairman must prioritize the applicants.

Applications must be sent via email to conference@drf.org by April 15, 2008.

Applicants will be notified of the results of the selection process by May 1, 2008.
